BEEP (Baldwin Energy Efficiency Program) is a subcommittee of the Baldwin City Economic Development Corp. through which Baker University, the City of Baldwin City and local businesses are working together to promote energy efficient home improvements in our community. BEEP is promoting the following two programs in an effort to meet efficiency and affordability goals:

The Weatherization Assistance Program is an income-based grant program funded by the State of Kansas and administered by the East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation (ECKAN). The assistance is at no cost to you if you own or rent your home and qualify under the program income guidelines shown below. Services that may be included are:

Cleaning/Tuning up furnaces or replacement, if necessary
Sealing leaks in heating systems
Repairing broken glass in windows
Sealing holes in outside walls/ceilings for insulation
Insulating attic areas
Insulating exterior walls

Income Guidelines (Gross income for the past 12 months cannot exceed these amounts)

Efficiency Kansas is a loan program administered by the State Energy Office at the Kansas Corporation Commission. The program channels federal stimulus funds through local banks, providing financing for cost-effective, energy-efficiency improvements in existing homes and small businesses throughout Kansas.

A comprehensive energy audit will determine a customized “diagnosis” and “prescription” for improvements

Financing at a low 4% APR fixed rate for up to 15 years

Loans up to $20,000 for approved projects in homes and $30,000 for approved projects in small businesses
